It's one thing to say you're in community, but it's something else to show up for it. I'm not talking about just online, not just through a social media post, but old-school face-to-face, in the neighborhood, connecting with the people who make Oakland what it is. You know, out with your people! That's why Tha Town Plantz is excited to be a community vendor at the 2026 Community Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 1431 17th Ave in Oakland. And I'd love for you to pull up, say hey, and chat with me. Community Health Is Community Care Hosted by Kingdom Builders, the Community Health & Wellness Fair brings together health resources, local organizations, community vendors, and Oakland residents for a free day centered on wellness, access, and connection. Attendees will have access to services and resources, including: - Free eye exams and glasses - Free vaccinations - Free vital and wellness checkups - Community resources and organizations - Local vendors, including Tha Town Plantz! Let's be real: events like this are vital, especially right now, because access to health and wellness resources shouldn't depend on one's ZIP code, income, or ability to navigate complicated systems. Bringing resources directly into the community creates opportunities to learn, connect, ask questions, and care for yourself and your family. It's Oakland showing up for Oakland, and it's dope to be part of it. Why Tha Town Plantz Is Pulling Up Yes, I do love plants, and Tha Town Plantz was never created to simply sell plants. This work is rooted in the belief that plants are a pathway to wellness, education, food sovereignty, sustainability, and community connection. Growing your own herbs or vegetables is about more than just gardening. Learning how to care for a houseplant can be about more than decorating your home. When we create green spaces in our homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods, we gain another way to reconnect with nature. When we talk about urban gardening, plant education, and food sovereignty, we're also talking about health and access. We're talking about giving people the knowledge and confidence to grow something of their own. We're talking about creating healthier homes and neighborhoods. And we're talking about making sure Black and Brown communities are included in conversations about sustainability, wellness, and our relationship with the land. That is why being part of the Community Health & Wellness Fair aligns with Tha Town Plantz. Plant wellness is community wellness.
